William “Bill” M. Cowley passed away on March 21, 2025, at home. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was born in Huntsville AL., on August 29, 1934, and as a teenager, gave his life to Jesus Christ.

Bill graduated from Huntsville High School in 1952, served three years as a U.S. Marine and then graduated from Southeastern Bible College becoming a pastor as a young adult. He worked for 33 years in the Madison County Juvenile Court system, becoming the Chief Probation Officer of Madison County for juveniles while also pastoring churches.

 

He pastored several churches in Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana including Calera Bible Church, Evangel Church, First Southern Methodist Church, Clear Creek Bible Church, Christian Fellowship Church (Fayetteville, TN), Christian Fellowship Church (Huntsville, AL), and was an Associate Pastor at Southwood Presbyterian Church.

He also served for several years on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Rescue Mission, worked in the Lincoln Village Ministry, served as a Chaplain for Hospice, and as a Chaplain for Marketplace Ministries.

Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mitzi Cowley; children, Jeff Cowley (Denise), David Cowley (Kim), and Dan Cowley (Gina); his grandchildren, Colton Cowley (Nicole), Sydney Perrin (Ben), Haley Cowley, Jacob Cowley, Kendall Cowley, and Brent Cowley; his nephew, Stan Gardner (Loreta); and niece, Kandy Harris (Keith). Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest and Ona Mae Cowley; sister, Joyce Gardner (Bennie) and niece, Karen Gardner Casey.

Visitation will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church in Hampton Cove on Wednesday March 26, at 11:30 a.m. with service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
