Jerry M. Wilhelm passed away peacefully at his home the morning of March 2, 2025, at the age of 87.
Mr. Wilhelm was born in China Grove, NC to the late Frank Edwards Wilhelm and Zelia Hazeline Redwine Wilhelm. He grew up in North Carolina with his five brothers until he joined the United States Air Force in 1955.
He served in the USAF for 20 years including serving in the Vietnam War. His numerous awards notably included the Bronze Star. Among his many assignments, it was while stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany that he met his wife of 67 years, Christa Nett.
Upon retirement from active duty, he honorably served another 20+ years for the Department of the Army. He and Christa continued to live in Huntsville, AL after retiring from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
He is survived by his wife, Christa Wilhelm; their two sons, Ralph D. Wilhelm (Rhonda) and Scott A. Wilhelm (Susan); four grandchildren, Ashley, Aaron, Alex and Ian; and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Tatum.
A visitation to remember his life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A burial with family members with full military honors will be held at a future date.
