W A Morgan, 95, of Rogersville, peacefully went to his heavenly home on July 1, 2026. W A was born in Scottsville KY, on June 6, 1931, to the late Roy Maxie (Max) Morgan and Myrtle Hatler Morgan. He graduated from Allen County High School in 1949, and moved to Nashville to work and study at Draughon’s Business College. He joined the United States Air Force in September 1951, and obtained his rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in September 1955. He then used the GI Bill to obtain his B.S. in Business from the University of Kentucky in 1958. During his studies, he met the love of his life, Rosemary Gail Love, at one of many gospel singings he attended in Allen County, Sumner County and the surrounding area. In 1957, he committed his service and became Master Mason of the Graham #208 Lodge in Scottville Ky. Upon graduation, Gail and W A were married in Gallatin TN, on October 10, 1959. He began his career in textile manufacturing, and managed numerous large scale sewing companies in Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama (Rogersville Mfg. Co) and Tennessee (Minor Hill). But without question, his greatest achievement, and most fulfilling lifelong endeavor, was loving his wife, and raising his family. Wayne Allan (Emily) was born 1961, Thomas Dow was born 1964, Mark Love (Josie) was born 1966, and Angela Gay Kelley (Chris) was born 1967. He was a lifelong member at Oak Forest Missionary Baptist Church #2 in Scottsville KY, and he faithfully raised his family in various churches that aligned with the message of Salvation he learned at Oak Forest. After retirement at 71, he loved being “Grandaddy” to his 7 grandchildren – Jessica Morgan Coleman (Justin), Wilson Morgan (Katie), Benjamin Morgan, Joseph Morgan, Morgan Kelley Kingry (Allen), Sarah Kelley Legg (Titus), and William Kelley (Allie). His 4 great-grandchildren, Reese and Roy Coleman, Walker Morgan, and Merritt Kingry, with the anticipation of his 5th great-grandchild (Sarah and Titus) made his heart swell with pride. He continued his service at Weaver Chapter #207, and was Worthy Patron for 15+ years.
Along with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he is survived by his two brothers, Judson (Brownie), Donald (Marsha) and sister-in-law, Willo Dean Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers R.J. and Felix, and sister Alcy Ann.
Visitation will be at Rogersville Funeral Home, Sunday, July 5th from 12:30-2:00pm, with service following in the chapel. Burial will be held in Miller Cemetery.
