Two-Vehicle Accident In Madison; One Dead One injured

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:09 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, has claimed the life of an unidentified person.

The person was fatally injured when the 2003 Buick Park Avenue that he or she was driving was struck by a 2000 Ford F-550 driven by Curtis N. Johnson, 48, of Toney.

After the initial impact, the Buick caught fire, left the roadway and struck a ditch. The Ford also left the roadway and then struck the Buick for a second time. The driver of the Buick was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. The identity of the driver of the Buick is currently unknown and is pending notification by Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The crash occurred on Alabama 53 near Harvest Road, approximately one mile east of Harvest, in Madison County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
