MARION COUNTY-On Friday, April 3 the Marion County Sheriff Kevin Williams issued a news release concerning two children who were reported missing from their home:

“On Thursday, April 2 at approximately 3 PM, the Marion County sheriff’s Department was dispatched to 15993 US Highway 278 East, Brilliant, Alabama regarding two missing juveniles.  The missing juveniles were 10 and 4 years old.

The Marion County sheriff’s Department arrived along with the Brilliant Police Department shortly after being dispatched to the residence.

Along with the law enforcement agencies, 10 volunteer fire departments from the area quickly responded along with the Marion County EMA, and Marion County EMS ambulance service.  The search was quickly organized by Brilliant Fire and Rescue and was aided by two drones from the Hamilton Fire Department and a local citizen.

i am also greatly appreciative of the approximately 100 volunteer fire fighters and local citizens that eagerly arrived and were ready   to volunteer with the search of the missing juveniles.  I am so thankful that Marion County is a close-knit community and everyone is always willing and ready to volunteer when the need arises.

The missing juveniles were playing in their yard and roamed off into a nearby wooded area at approximately 2 PM.

Around 4 PM, an ALEA helicopter based in Montgomery was contacted and came to the scene to aid in the search.

The missing juveniles were found safely with no injuries and were slightly dehydrated a few minutes before 6 PM on the evening of April 2 at the edge of a field in the wood line about 3/4 of a mile from their residence.

I was very glad this search had a positive outcome and the missing juveniles were quickly reunited with their family.”
