ATHENS-Police Chief Floyd Johnson releases statement on stolen carย out of Texas….Two suspects arrested:

“This morning around 7:30 Officer Brandon Colburn was patrolling on Lucasferry Road near Remington Drive when he saw a GMC Yukon speeding. He stopped the vehicle for traveling 61 mph in a 40 mph zone.

A short time later dispatch advised Colburn the vehicle was stolen out of Texas. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kenneth John Lemire and the passenger was identified as Evelyn Smith Marie Pena. Dispatch

was able to conform the vehicle had been reported stolen from La Marque Texas.

Pena told Colburn the couple had been in Alabama for three days but she didnโ€™t know where the vehicle came from. Lemire told Colburn he gave a person $500.00 to borrow the vehicle.

Both Lemire and Pena were arrested for receiving stolen property 1st degree. They were booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. “
