TENNESSEE VALLEY-TVA met a new high peak demand for the summer of 2025 this week, supported by a diverse mix of generating assets. The local power companies are rock stars keeping the power flowing to keep everyone cool and safe!

On Wednesday, July 30, we reached a preliminary summer-to-date peak of 31,888 Megawatts at a system average temperature of 93 F–our highest demand so far this summer.

Also, Tuesday’s preliminary peak was 31,563 MW at 95 F, just shy of this summer’s earlier peak of 31,644 MW on July 17.

So that’s three peaks in the month of July, all of which have already exceeded TVA’s 2024 summer peak of 31,096 MW, which was reached last August at a higher system temperature of 99 F.

This is why we need to keep saying – Energy Matters. We need more. TVA is build.

This demonstrates the continued growth in electricity demand across the Valley, with higher usage occurring even at lower temperatures.

TVA remains committed to delivering reliable, resilient and affordable power to the people and businesses of the region.

(For background information – these peaks are still well below the all-time summer peak of over 33,500 MW in August 2007 and the all-time peaks of over 35,000 MW we set during both January 2025 and January 2024.)
