play1FLORENCE-The Shoals Theatre is presenting “Three Murders and It’s Only Monday” April 10-11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 in downtown Florence.
Mary Ellen Killen, the director, has been directing for 36 years. A lot of her experience came from teaching high school for 34 years. She did theatre for a year at the Ritz Theatre before she started teaching. She retired from teaching two years ago.
Killen’s love for her students and actors runs deep, “I didn’t have any children of my own, so I keep all of them.”
Killen’s love for theatre came accidentally. “I had friends who were in theatre, and I went to an audition with them. Theplay3 play was looking for a lot of female roles, so I read and got a role in the play.”
In the play, three murders happen by the time the play opens and you get to see them all. The narrator of the story is an overacting detective named Harry Monday. In this murder mystery, everyone is murdered except the murderer. You will not be able to find out who it is until he/she is the only actor left standing.
The play is written by Pat Cook, who has a lot of mysteries cupped with comedy.
“Three Murders and It’s Only Monday will be fun for the whole family.” So come down to Florence’s Historic Downtown Shoals Theatre and have a relaxing evening.
