Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Thomas “Buck” Strickland, Jr., 93, will be Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Hartselle City Cemetery with Rev. Mike Cunningham officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Strickland died on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born on April 11, 1925, in Jefferson County to Thomas Buckner Strickland and Gladys Beaty Strickland. He was a Pharmacist and Owner of Strickland Drugs in Hartselle for a number of years. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. Degree in Pharmacy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was assigned to the Medical Detachment at Camp Polk, in Louisana. While serving, he earned a Service medal, a Good Conduct medal, a World War II Victory medal and an Occupation medal.
In 1986, Mr. Strickland was very instrumental in getting the Terrell Industries Company up and running. Terrell Industries is a sheltered workplace to help handicapped employees with meaningful employment. He was involved in the business by serving as the President of the Board for a number of years and after he was no longer president he continued helping in any capacity he could to help keep the business running.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his wife: Alice Joy Rowe Strickland and his parents.
