Terry Lynn Tubbs, age 52, of Thaxton, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 25, following a long/courageous battle with cancer. Terry was born on June 27, 1973, in Batesville, Mississippi, to the late Charles and Ruby Tubbs. Terry spent 35 years as a traveling crane operator, a career that took him across the country, allowing him to meet countless people, none of whom remained strangers for long. Known for his easy smile and generous heart, Terry had a way of making everyone feel comfortable. Outside of work, Terry found his greatest peace in the outdoors. The mountains of Colorado were especially dear to him, as he and his wife spent cherished time elk hunting in the vast wilderness.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Jennifer Chambers Tubbs; stepdaughter Mallory Stegall-Clayton (Curt); father-in-law Bobby Chambers (Pat); brothers- and sisters-in-law Janet Waldrop (Kevin), Jessica Elmore, Dawn Simmons (Alan), and Scotty Watson (Wendi); as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Luke Edwards, Jase Stegall, and Jenna Stegall. Also surviving him are a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and his half brothers and sisters: Charles Gordon of Houston, Texas; James Hamby of Southaven, Mississippi; Teresa Lage of Grovetown, Georgia; Michael Tubbs, Beverly Tubbs, and Judy Austin, all of Batesville, Mississippi. In addition, Terry is survived by his “wind family” from across the United States, friends and coworkers who were loved like family.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Tubbs; his mother-in-law, Pat Bland Abner; and his grandparents, Joe and Nancy Hamby Goode, Bennet Tubbs and Jimmie Ruth Tubbs all of Panola County.
Pallbearers will be Doug Hughes, Scott Huggins, Curt Clayton, Bubba Jackson, Lee Stegall, and Ken Wilgermein.
Honorary pallbearers are a multitude of crane operators and wind personnel from various states.
Terry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and—most of all—his kindness and ability to connect with people wherever life took him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services are set for 1 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with visitation starting at 11 AM. Bro. Scotty Bland and Bro.
