Sylvia Faye Garner Sullivan, age 84 of Cowan, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Laurel Oaks Assisted Living in Winchester. A native of Franklin County, she was born on September 13, 1939, in Decherd to the late Edward Dotson and Clara Frances (Rieben) Garner Jr. She was a 1957 graduate of Franklin County High School. Before her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for T.E.R.D.A. Sylvia enjoyed camping trips with her late husband, family, and friends. Her favorite was camping at Cumberland Falls State Park in Corbin, Kentucky. She was a member of The Sweet Adelines and the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she treasured her time being a member of the Cumberland Quartet and the sanctuary choir, as well as serving in the children’s music ministry. Sylvia cherished her time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Julian Sullivan; son, Carl Sullivan; brother, Charles Edward Garner; and sister, Frances Rhea Garner. Sylvia is survived by her son, Kenneth (Tammy) Sullivan; grandchildren, Matthew (Lana) Sullivan, and Jamie (Meghan) Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Dr. Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Eagles Wings’ Inc, 12379 Eagles’ Wings Drive, Coker, AL 35452.
