It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Marilyn Matthews. Marilyn Ann Matthews was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on November 15, 2023 at the age of 86, surrounded by family.
She was born to Berta and Glenn Ryan on September 16, 1937. Marilyn was along time member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur, AL and she spent her life as a dedicated servant of Christ. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She enjoyed baking, reading, and studying the Bible.
Marilyn is survived by her husband David, Sister Rebecca, three sons Ryan (wife Amy), James (wife Gokden), and Eric, and grandchildren Kyrsten (husband Jeff), Macon, Katherine, Grace (husband Taylor), Harrison, Wade, and Zeynep.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday November 18, 2023 at Central Baptist Church from 10: am till 11:00am with the Funeral Service to follow. The Graveside Service be Sunday November 19, 2023 at Goose Pond Cemetery in Scottsboro, AL. Donations in her honor can be made to Hospice of the Valley (240 Johnston Street SW Decatur, AL 3560). The family would like to thank the staff at Decatur Morgan General for their compassionate care for Marilyn during her final days. Marilyn will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
