Sue White Timberlake – Obituary

Funeral service for Sue White Timberlake will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Decatur with Dr. Rudy Guess and Dr. Burl Oliver officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Timberlake departed this life on March 10, 2013 at Riverside Assisted Living. She was born in Lacey’s Spring to James Christopher White and Virginia McCutcheon White on July 21, 1920. She moved to Priceville when she was nine years old and lived there through high school; then she moved to Decatur where she had resided until her death. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 65 years. Her interests included cooking for family, watching the Atlanta Braves, football, other sports and traveling, especially to New York and overseas. Mrs. Timberlake and her husband were supporters of the Princess Theater. For many years, they attended the seasonal events and musical programs. Her professional life included working for First National Bank of Decatur, TVA, and secretary at First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Timberlake was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clarence K. “Flip” Timberlake; her parents; four sisters, Marjorie White, Christine Henderson, Bonnie Weinman and Bitty Sharp Miller; three brothers, J.T. White, J.C. White Jr. and Edgar Van White Sr.; two nephews, Edgar Van White Jr. and Irvin White. She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends, Mike Henderson, Jeff Henderson, Joe Weinman, Doug Weinman, Jimmy White, Mark Price, Chris Story and Joe Montgomery.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Wesley Sunday school class of First United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Scott Matthew for his loving care, the sitters of ResCare-Decatur for their kindness and love, and the staff at Riverside Senior Living for their help and support during the last four years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 805 Canal Street NE, Decatur, AL 35601.
