TUSCUMBIA-On Sept. 14, 2018, the Alabama Senate recognized Sept. 17, 2018, as Constitution Day.

The resolution encourages Alabamians across the state to remember the importance of the Constitution through activities, learning opportunities, parades, and other demonstrations that commemorate the formation and signing of the United States Constitution. Many federal agencies offer a variety of free materials for educators in aid of teaching students about the Constitution.

“My hope is that Alabamians will take the opportunity to attend local events that celebrate this landmark document of the Western world,” Stutts said. “May we not forget the blessing of freedom that our founding fathers secured for us.”

The resolution also recognizes all people born in the U.S. and those who have become U.S. citizens by naturalization.

The full Senate resolution was read and delivered by Senator Larry Stutts at a Constitution Day Celebration at the Roundhouse in Tuscumbia.
