Sally Bell Miller Grimmitt, of Sheffield, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the age of 73. Her visitation will be Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield with Chad Holder and Bill Bedsole officiating. Sally will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Sally was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield, where she served in the Chancel Choir. She volunteered and gave her time to her church, community and to various organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Guy Miller, III and Sara Virginia Miller; and her brother, George Guy Miller IV.
Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Charles Grimmitt; sons, Charles Miller Grimmitt (Susan), George Edward “Ged” Grimmitt (Cheri) and Justin Estes Grimmitt; aunts, Frances Scurlock and Charlotte Thompson; grandchildren, Mason, Ainslie, Noah and Lucy Grimmitt; brother-in-law, William Grimmitt (Franny); and niece, Morgan Grimmitt.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Sheffield, Tennessee Valley Art Center, the Sheffield Board of Education Foundation to the Anne Grimmitt Scholarship fund or the Sheffield Public Library.
Pallbearers will be Mason Grimmitt, Noah Grimmitt, Thomas Martin, Jimmy Askew, Bill Baker, and Clayton Kelly.
