Beulah “Granny” Christine Black Kirchner, 86 of Muscle Shoals, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 on Valentine’s Day and went to be with her sweetheart. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia with service to follow in the chapel. Ben Hayes will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia.
Ms. Kirchner was a native of Tuscumbia and a member of Highland Park Church of Christ. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, known to many as “Granny”. She and Rudolph loved square dancing and she enjoyed the time that she spent as a substitute teacher at Muscle Shoals. She came from a family of talented singers and musicians. Granny loved family time, playing games, cooking and camping. She truly loved life to the fullest and was the life of any party.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rudolph Kirchner; parents, Joel Lee and Beulah Dean Black; brothers, Fred Black, Bob Black, Jimmy Black, Grady Black, James “Jep” Black and Joel Black; and one sister, Grace McDonald.
Ms. Kirchner is survived by her son, Rudy Kirchner (Jean); daughter, Robin Sessions (Jim); grandchildren, Chasity Farris (Todd Weatherford), Clint Kirchner (Emily), Rudy Kirchner III, Jay Sessions (Megan), Megan Jett (Jonathan), and Joel Sessions (Mackenzie); great-grandchildren, Caitlin Farris, Carly Kirchner, Allison Farris, Ava Kirchner, Aidan Sessions, Luke Jett, Sommer Jett, Charlie Sessions, Amelia Jett and Lily Kirchner; and sister-in-law, Doris Carroll.
Pallbearers will be Clint Kirchner, Joel Sessions, David Black, Ray McDonald, Todd Weatherford, David Millsaps and Aidan Sessions.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff and family at Brentwood, caregivers Rosanne Scott, Terri Hardy, Debby Keenum and countless others. Also special thanks to the staff and nurses of North Alabama Medical Center.
