Funeral service for Ronda (Ron) Estep, 79, will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery in Tazewell, TN . Visitation will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home.
Mr. Estep died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born January 7, 1939, in Claiborne County, TN to Clifford Estep and Lee Hazel Brooks Estep.
Ron graduated from Forge Ridge High School of Harrogate, TN in 1955 at the age of sixteen. After attending High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 30 years, serving at stations in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Eustis, Virginia, Chicago Gary Defense, Chicago, IL., Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, Selfrige Air Force Base, Mount Clemmons, MI, Scofield Barricks, Hawaii, DarmStadt, West Germany, Javer, West Germany, Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, Camp Humphries South Korea –where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 and specialized in Air Defense Missile Systems. Ron received the Legion of Merit at the culmination of his military career. The Legion of Merit is sixth in the order of precedence of all military awards.
After retiring from the United States Army, Ron worked for Teledyne Brown Engineering and later drove an 18 Wheeler before retiring in 2004. Ron met Constance (Connie) Liverett while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Ron and Connie were later married October 23, 1965 and celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary in 2015.
