Robert Gamble Brooks, 76, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, June 23, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Sammy Wallace officiating.
Bobby owned Brooks Body Shop and Wilson Lake Marine, retiring at the age of fifty-two, due to health reasons. He was a past member of Muscle Shoals Area Street Rods and Sea Ray Owners Yacht Club, and he loved the 256 Racing Team and the entire Racing Family. Bobby was an avid Alabama football fan. Bobby loved gospel music and country music, Westerns, Nascar, Drag Racing, and his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Patricia Brooks.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Brooks; son Cristopher Brooks; brothers-in-law, Terry Mashburn (Tammy) and Danny Mashburn (Cathy); sister-in-law, Linda Gutherie Smith (Randy); and several nieces and nephews.
Bobby’s talents were many. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do, from taking an old car and turning it into a beautiful creation, to wiring a building, to building a dock, to “mending a broken heart”.
Bobby was a loyal and caring man. He loved his country, family, friends, and his Savior. His love went deep, he was the life of any event. His family and friends were some of his deepest treasures. Bobby would tell you if he disagreed on something and he would tell you how much you meant to him. He was not afraid to say, “I love you” and he would tell you often that he loved you and how special you were to him.
Bobby loved his Lord and Savior and was quick to tell you that he would keep you in his prayers. Bobby and the Lord had a very personal relationship.
Bobby and his wife, Pat, shared fifty-six years of marriage. Although he would jokingly tell you that she was a “mean woman”, if you knew Bobby, you knew how deep their love was and how proud of her he was.
Bobby’s pride and joy was his son. They shared many father/son trips. They shared their love of the water, boats, fishing, old cars, and, most recently, drag racing. Bobby and Chris built a ’68 Nova called “Old School”. He passed on his attitude of not believing in being wasteful. Because “you never knew when you might need a 3” piece of wire!”
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the North Alabama Medical Center ER staff on Monday night for their relentless efforts to save Bobby, especially to one special young lady who was so super loving and caring. Thanks, also, to Ronnie Jones for doing CPR all the way to the hospital.
