Ms. Eva Mae Embry Ms. Eva Mae Embry, age 92, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, AL on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Eva was born January 3, 1931 in Marshall County, AL to Franklin Elkins and Leora Atchley Elkins. Eva became a resident of Arab in the early 1950’s and owned and operated several restaurants in the area.
She was definitely a “people person,” which was evident in her chosen career and personal interest. She had an extremely funny sense of humor and could be a real “stinker.” She loved to cook and manage the restaurants and visit with all the patrons. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, gardening, shopping and camping in her Airstream at Guntersville Lake. Eva was active through her 80’s as a caregiver for several area residents. Children, grandchildren and great-grands were treasured by Eva.
Family members left behind to cherish memories of Eva include her daughters, Sue Cosby and Cindy Stinson; son, Larry Embry; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, sisters, Barbara Zak and Mary Jem Tidmore.
Preceding Eva in death in addition to her parents, Franklin and Leora Elkins, is her son, Jerry Embry and her siblings, Kenneth Elkins, Jim Ed Elkins, and Alice Ruth Wright.
Visitation for Eva will be 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Brother Randy L. Blakely. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery in the Grassy community. Pallbearers are Chris Embry, Erick Embry, Jacob Stinson, Cody Stinson, James Wiles and Johnny LeBrun.
