A Memorial Service for Robert “Bob” Ayre, 81, will be held on April 26th, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time. Mr. Ayre peacefully left his earthly home on Monday, April 14, 2025 in Decatur, AL. He was born to Nancy and Robert Ayre on May 31, 1943 in Louisville, KY, where he spent most of his life.
Bob attended the University of Louisville where he graduated with his accounting degree. He served as an accountant, an ice cream shop owner, and an adult education teacher, all of which he did with great passion. Bob’s favorite profession, though, was being a minister in the Community of Christ Church, where he attended and served for over 67 years. His devout love for the Lord and sharing the gospel message with others was evident to all who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn; his brother, Jim; his parents; and his son-in-law, Louis. He is survived by his daughter Robin Stacy (Guy); grandchildren, Sean Stacy (Amber) and Christina Stacy; sister-in-law, Linda Ayre; nephew, Mike Ayre (Kristie); and niece, Sandy Coke (James). He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, 2 great-nephews, 4 great-nieces and many, many friends.
Bob’s love, service to others, zeal for new friendships, joy (and jokes), and resilience are among many of the qualities that will be missed most by his loved ones until we meet again.
