SHEFFIELD – Jake Landers, storied Bluegrass writer and performer is the focus of a benefit concert at Sheffield’s Ritz Theater Tuesday night. The concert begins at 6 o’clock with Mike McGuire of Shenandoah, Rusty Moody, Peanutt Montgomery and Doctors, Lawyers & Such. Then at 7, Iron Horse performs. At 7:30 pm, it will be Walt Aldridge and Chris Tompkins. At 8:30 pm, The Steel Drivers.

“Jake Landers is a premier bluegrass songwriter who co-founded The Dixie Gentlemen. He was one of Bill Monroe’sBluegrass Boys and has played the Grand Ole Opry. Landers penned several hit songs including Walk Softly On this Heart of Mine that sold 22 million copies. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award. Jake holds the distinction of Music Achiever at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. He was inducted with the first class into the Alabama Bluegrass Hall of Fame.”
Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased at the Tennessee Valley Arts Association Museum on Water Street between 9 and 5, and will be available at the door. Proceesd will be used to help Landers with medical expenses.
