Rick Hall – Obituary

Rick Hall passed away at home on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the age of 85. His visitation will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from noon until 2 p.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Bob Pittman and Tom Whatley officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Herman Marcie Hall; and mother, Dollie Hall Sanford; his brothers, H.M., Terry Ray, and James Melvin Hall; and sister, Wetha Wenoka McMurray.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hall; sons, G. Rick Hall of Fame Ranch in Colbert County and his wife, Cindy, Mark Hall of Nashville, Tennessee and his wife, Jessica, and Rodney Hall of Muscle Shoals; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Mary Elizabeth, Jackson, Sara, and Samuel; brothers, Terry and Larry Hall; sister, Betty Bedford; and his special lifetime friend and first cousin, Rosa Lee Bolton Cantrell.

Pallbearers will be Bill Joe Cox, Perry Cross, Walt Aldridge, Dean Leslie, Stanley Sherrill, and Steve Manley. Honorary pallbearers will be Candi Staton, Norbert Putnam, Mac Davis, Randy Owen, Jimmy Hughes, Ed Maples, Othel McClanahan, Clarence Carter, Dan Penn, Spooner Oldham, David Briggs, David Hood, Jimmy Johnson, Roger Hawkins, Peanutt Montgomery, Mickey Buckins, Daniel Beard, Harvey Thompson, Ronnie Eades, Jim Underwood, Hugh Banks, Johnny Mack Morrow, Ronnie Flippo, Alan Schulman, James LeBlanc, Bob Wray, Clayton Ivey, Mac McAnally, Don Srygley, Suzanne Bolton, Jana Malone, Noah Shell, Spencer Coats, John Gifford III, Tyra Newkirk, Larry Byrom, Randy McCormick, Travis Wammack, Junior Lowe, and all of the musicians, songwriters, producers and artists who made legendary music at Fame Recording Studios.

The family requests no flowers, but donations in Rick’s honor may be made to the Fame Girl’s Ranch, 4450 Ligon Springs Rd., Russellville, AL 35654.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Suites Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and a special thanks to Rene York for her tender and diligent around-the-clock care.
