Richard Ray Curtis, age 69 of Decherd, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Highpoint Health Medical Center. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on October 17, 1956, to the late Billy Ray and Nellie B. (Hall) Curtis. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Before his retirement, Richard worked in stocking for retail businesses. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching football and wrestling (having wrestled when he was younger). In his spare time, you could find him listening to Elvis and country music or watching television. He was a member of Paynes Baptist Church. Richard had a big heart for others and will be remembered for his caring nature, as well as his sense of humor. He is survived by his loving children, Joshua Curtis (Carrington White) and Amanda Curtis; sister, Carol (Anthony) Johnson; grandchildren, Jailynn Curtis, Jayden Farrow, Savannah Russell, and Camille Russell; aunt, Lisa Villani; nephew, Kevin (Mary) Alonso; and great-nephews, Hayden Alonso and Brennan Alonso. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. James C. Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Franklin Memorial Gardens to go towards a memorial.
