LTC Raymond Louis Armstrong (Ret) age 93, of Arab passed away Thursday March 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 22, 1931, in Florence, AL the son of Frank Henry Armstrong and Jennie White Armstrong. He was in ROTC in high school and college and then enlisted in the United States Army, entering service on Sept. 25, 1953, at Ft. Benning, GA. LTC Armstrong served for 28 years serving in Vietnam and receiving numerous awards and commendations including a Bronze Star. His last assignment was served with the Army Corps of Engineers at Redstone Arsenal and he was honorably discharged on September 30, 1981. He and Judy Heflin Armstrong were married on December 8, 1997, and continued their retirement years in Arab.
Survivors include his wife: Judy Armstrong; children: Amy Armstrong Easton (Robbie), Miranda Armstrong Pavlinovic (Lawrence) and Matthew R. Armstrong (Dina); four grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank H. and Jennie Armstrong and a brother: Frank Henry Armstrong.
The family honored his wishes of cremation with no formal funeral service. Gober Funeral Chapel assisted the Armstrong family with arrangements.
