Rev. R. Dwight Bennison, age 82 of Murfreesboro, TN, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 7, 2024. A native of Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Roy Wilson and Ethel Marie White Bennison. Bro. Dwight was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Williams.
Bro. Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Drake Bennison; daughter Darlene Bennison; grandson, Malachi Brown all of Murfreesboro, TN; and a nephew, Dale Bateman of Hermitage, TN.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Fair Havens Baptist Church, 1610 Riverview Drive Murfreesboro, TN 37129. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday following the visitation with Randy Ledbetter and Rev. Jim Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Rob Follis, Kevin Smith, Joel Powers, Robby Cook, Terry Turner, and Rick Worley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Bateman, Bill Lamb, Hunter Lamb, and Michael Colquette.
Bro. Dwight was a faithful servant to God. He was called into the ministry and served as minister of Fair Havens Baptist Church, formerly Riverview Baptist and served there for 28 years. He later graduated from John A. Gupton College, earning an AA degree in Mortuary Science. He continued ministering to families as a funeral director and embalmer working for the SCI Dignity Funeral Homes in Nashville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakland Restoration Fellowship for International Missions in memory of Bro. Dwight.
