Sandra ‘Sandy’ L Stone
Sandra was born in Oakland, CA, the daughter of Albert Meyer and Thelma Wiser Meyer, in
1936. She grew up in Orinda, CA and graduated from Acalanes High School in Lafayette,
CA in 1954. She was married to Ernest R. Stone (“Ernie”) in 1959, in Orinda, CA. They lived
in the San Francisco East Bay Area, the Philippines, Italy and Virginia Beach, VA while Ernie
was in the Navy and later consulting. After Ernie retired, they lived in St. Thomas USVI,
Highland Beach, FL, and Lincoln, CA.
Sandy worked in real estate management and most recently as the office manager for Clark
Whitehill, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA. Sandy and Ernie spent five years on their beloved
sloop “Chardonnay” in St. Thomas, USVI, with Sandy commuting to Virginia for work. After
hurricane Marilyn devastated St. Thomas 1995, Sandy and Ernie moved to Florida, and then
later to Lincoln, CA. Ernie passed away in 2008.
In 2018, Sandy moved to Huntsville AL, to be under the care of her goddaughter, Sloan
Baldwin, after suffering a major stroke. She was most recently a resident of Fleming
Farms in Huntsville.
Sandy is survived by her brothers, Keith (Lindsay) Meyer of La Quinta, CA, Richard (Diane) Meyer of Mandeville, LA, and Dennis Meyer of Buckeye, AZ; her goddaughter, Sloan; and four nieces.
Sandy will be interred with her husband Ernie at Arlington National Cemetery at a future
date.
