serious concerns about this proposed surface mining and processing plant, including possible effects on human health,water quality, noise and air pollution, destruction of the land and the limitations of the reclamation of the land after the mining is finished.

In Lawrence County, Hatton schools will be within a few miles and east (downwind) of the mining and shoals enviormental alliancethe processing plant.
In attendance to offer information and answer questions will be local citizens who are knowledgeable about northwest Alabama geology and the mining process, including Dr. Jim Lacefield (author of Lost Worlds in Alabama Rocks), John Crowder (retired environmental consultant), and Charles Rose (President of Shoals Environmental Alliance); and concerned residents Janice Barrett, Mark Kolinski and others who will be directly affected by the operations.
