Phyllis Garner Dexter, 71, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026 at The Meadows in Fulton, MS. She was born in Belmont, MS to Leroy and Helen Payne Garner. She had worked as a teacher at Headstart for several years.
Graveside services will be Sunday, May 3, 2 p.m. at Belmont City Cemetery with Bro. Roger Wood officiating. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three children, Lana Murphree, Lori Witt (Brad) and Barry Dexter; grandchildren, Sam Murphree, Emma Murphree, Grayson Witt, Greta Witt, Blake-Leigh Dexter and Brock Dexter; brother, Wayne Garner (Jamie); sister-in-law, Eva Garner and the father of her children and best friend, Randy Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Garner and grandchild, Quinton Murphree.
Pallbearers will be Brad Witt, Grayson Witt, Tony Lybrand, Brock Dexter and Sam Murphree.
