Philip Leo LumanPhilip Leo Luman, 65, Florence, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, January 13, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Tuscumbia First Methodist Church. A memorial service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Dr. Rudy Guess officiating.

Philip was a member of Tuscumbia First Methodist Church. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Jaycees. He graduated from Muscle Shoals High School and attended UNA, where he was a member of the band at both schools. Philip had a love for music. He enjoyed square dancing and was a talented musician, playing several instruments. Philip had a great love for children. He spent time officiating youth sports and was involved in Clown Ministry. He loved sports and was an avid Auburn fan. Philip had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his furbaby, Mia.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Scharrer Luman; parents, Charles and Elizabeth Luman; brothers, Mark Luman (Whitney) and Jonathan Luman (Susan); sister, Debora Ahlstrom (Rob); brother-in-law, Wayne Scharrer; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Tess Luman, Robby and Danielle Ahlstrom, Andrew, Whitney, Katelyn, Kurtis, and Konner Scharrer, and Bryce Cole; and great-nieces, Lily Scharrer, and Stephanie and Amelia Scharrer-Smitty.

Brothers-in-law and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family offers special thanks to Dr. Lima, Dr. Gosling, Dr. Shields, and Dr. Vardas and his nursing staff, and the nursing staff at UAB 5th and 6th Floor West Pavilion

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children and Youth Department at Tuscumbia First Methodist Church.
