Orville Lee “Hoss” Gober, 83, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Atwood, AL to Dellie Oakland Gober and Delma Scott Gober and worked in maintenance at Mueller Brass for thirty-five years. Orville was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War and was a member of Old Path Missionary Baptist Church.
Services will be Friday, November 7, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Mark Scott officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 6, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Golden, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Charlene Gober; three children, Oakland Lee Gober, Jeff Mills and Darlene Melson (Rodney); two grandchildren, Trey Melson (Katie) and Tori Horn (Alex); great-grandson, Brooks Horn; brother, Ronald Gober (Claudette); sister, Marie Seal and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Earlene Gober; brothers, Lowell Gober, Dorvin Gober and Waymon Gober and sisters, Faye Tate and Shirley Springer.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Gober, Rodney Melson, Trey Melson, Adam Gober, Ricky Young and Scott Seal.
