Northwest-Shoals Patriot baseball stays hot at home

MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL-The Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) Patriots baseball team have been hard to beat on their new home field at NW-SCC Patriot Park, going 4-1 the past two weeks, March 16-24, and 8-2 for the season.

The Patriots split a four-game series against Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) foe, Southern Union State Community College (SUSCC) on March 16th. The Patriots won the first two games at home 4-3 and 13-3. However, on March 18th, SUSCC returned the favor on their home field winning 2-0 and 4-2.

The Patriots started last week with a win over Columbia State Community College, 11-1, on Tuesday, March 21st.

Cade Prestegard threw two innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout. Landon Leslie pitched one inning, allowing one hit. Ethan Muncher threw two innings. Muncher allowed two hits and one run.

Samuel Pace earned the win for the Patriots. Pace threw two innings and allowed one run.

Logan James went 3-4, scoring one run and Eli Gipson went 2-3, scoring two runs.

On Thursday, March 23rd, the Patriots split a conference doubleheader with Snead State Community College.

The Patriots won game one 13-2.

On the mound, Michael Pfeiffer threw five innings, allowing six hits and two runs. Pfeiffer also walked three and struck out five batters.

Wilson went 3-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in four runs. Prestegard went 2-2 and scored three times.

The Patriots lost game two, 17-1, as Snead State scored all 17 runs in the first four innings.

Sanders started for NW-SCC, going 1.1 innings, giving up seven hits and eight runs. Leslie pitched one inning and allowed one hit and struck out one batter. Jacob Little pitched 1.2 innings allowing five hits and four runs. Emitt Green threw one inning allowing four hits and five runs.

Wilson went 2-1 at the plate and scored once.

Snead State swept a doubleheader the following day (3/24), as the two teams played in Boaz, Ala.

The Patriots were defeated in game one 11-1. Prestegard pitched one inning allowing five hits and three runs. Henry pitched 3.1 innings and allowed eight hits and eight runs. Strachan went 1-1 and scored one run.

Snead State’s offense remained hot in game two, as the Patriots lost 9-5. Prestegard and Drew McBurnett each had home runs for the Patriots, McBurnett’s in the sixth and Prestegard’s in the seventh inning.

Northwest-Shoals will travel to Hanceville to play a doubleheader against Wallace State Community College today, March 30th. The teams will play another doubleheader Saturday, April 1st, with first pitch set for 1 p.m., at Patriot Park on the NW-SCC Shoals campus.
