Nancy C. Barber age 75 of Smithville passed away Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2025, at NHC HealthCare in Smithville.  She was born August 26, 1950, to her parents, the late Flossie B. and Mary Tom Hendrixson Cook.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Cook, two sisters, Shelby Ann Jennings and Wanda Faye Fite and five nieces and nephews.  Nancy worked in a factory in her younger years and then became a store clerk and owner of Nancy’s Grocery.  She was known for her big smile, outgoing personality and a lady that never met a stranger.  Nancy attended the Short Mountain Church of God.  She is survived by her husband, Tommy Barber of Smithville; daughter, Juliana T. Webb of Smithville; two stepsons, Danny L. Barber and Scotty R. Barber both of Smithville; five grandchildren, Charles Brian (Samantha) Bates of Mississippi, Thomas Brey (Samantha) Dedmon of Alexandria, Robert B. (Neely) Pedigo of Smithville, Dillon Matthews of Smithville and Jasper Barber of Smithville; four great grandchildren, Kayden L Bates, Coleman R. and Nora D. Dedmon and Henry G. Pedigo; several nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Charles Stanton and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in New Union Cemetery at Belk.  Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Wednesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM.  The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to NHC HealthCare for the love and care shown to Nancy for over 9 years.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Barber family.
