Michael Henry “Mike” Long, 71  of Winfield, Alabama was born  January 8, 1949 in Blytheville, Arkansas and died January 12, 2020 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.

Mike was a member, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at Winfield First Baptist Church. He was a 1966 graduate and basketball star at Blytheville High School in Blytheville Arkansas. Mike went on to play basketball for Arkansas State until being drafted for military service. He served for 7 years in the United Sates Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his return from service, Mike began his career in Sikeston, Missouri with Sonic Drive. Shortly after, in 1975, Mike started his own restaurant, known today as The Cardinal Drive In. The Longs moved to Winfield in 1987 and continue to operate The Cardinal Drive In in Winfield, Alabama. Mike was instrumental in helping to start Winfield’s little league basketball program in 1989. He was a fun, kindhearted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Visitation: 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Winfield First Baptist Church in Winfield, Alabama.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, following visitation, at the Winfield First Baptist Church.

Burial: Winfield City Cemetery, Winfield, Alabama.
