Melvin Clay Mayo, Jr. Profile Photo Melvin Clay Mayo, Jr., of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on October 5, 2024, at the age of 84. Mr. Mayo was born on March 17, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Melvin Clay Mayo, Sr. and Verla Mayo.

Melvin was a kind and generous man who was always supportive of those he loved. He enjoyed the water and could be found boating or skiing on Smith Lake as often as possible. Mr. Mayo had a good sense of humor, and he enjoyed joking and laughing. Melvin loved to travel. He had a love for the Smokey Mountains, and he cherished his many visits to Hong Kong. Birds and animals also held a special place in Melvin’s heart, especially his little dog, Lucy. Mr. Mayo was a strong father and a loving husband of thirty-seven years to his beloved Deb, and he will be missed very much.

Those left to cherish the many memories of Mr. Mayo includes his wife, Delbra Brazell Mayo; sons, Clay Mayo, III., Chris Adkins (Paulette), Joseph Parker; daughter, Lee Ann Parker; grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Jake, Cole, and Tabitha; and a host of cousins, extended family, and treasured friends.

A memorial for Melvin will be announced at a later time.
