Larry Don Duke was born on June 2, 1944, and passed away February 7, 2025, peacefully at home in Decatur, Alabama surrounded by friends and family.  He was 80 years old.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Jesse Duke, and mother, Dorothy Mae Duke.  Larry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pamela Faulkner Duke; his sister Vicki (Lynn); nephews Brock Terry and Daniel (Gina) Terry and great nieces Lydia, Ava and Eliza Terry.  He is also survived by his niece Debra Kreps (Rodney) and nephew Greg Bodley (Cathy); his great nephew Zac Bodley, great nieces Catherine Bodley, Brittany Straub (David) and Shelley Carter (Clint); and great, great niece Blakely Carter and great, great nephew Cooper Carter.  Larry is also survived by his god daughter Kathy Faulkner Youngren (Rob) and Marley Youngren. Larry was an avid ultra runner, bicyclist, tennis player and many other sports.  Larry and his first cousin and best friend, Phillip Parker, bicycled from Decatur to Omaha, Nebraska, ran The Last Vol State Road Race 264 miles across Tennessee, Western States 100 Mile Trail Run.  These were just a few of the many adventures Larry, Phillip and his wife, Pam, experienced.  Larry also won several state tennis tournaments. His family is thankful for the love and support of their many friends.  They are thankful for Hospice nurses Shatara and Carla and his longtime friend and doctor, John Irle, for making his journey so much easier. We also like to thank Dexter Elliott and his staff for their assistance. Larry truly loved life and adventure.  No man is a failure who has friends and Larry had so many friends. We ask that in lieu of flowers please make donations to Decatur Animal Shelter.

A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held Sunday, March 2 anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 at 1514 Riverbend Place SE, Decatur, Alabama.
