Melba Lou Bolton Crump was born on March 2, 1930, and died at her home of natural causes on January 27, 2024 at the age of 93.

Funeral arrangements by Collins Burke Funeral Home on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 with memorial service at 1:00. Graveside service to follow at Odom Memorial Baptist Church Grey Cemetery, Parrish AL.

Melba was born in the Goodsprings area of Walker County and was a long-time member of the Full Gospel Church of God in Goodsprings. Later in life she attended the Church of the Living God in Parrish. She rarely traveled far from her long-time country home in Parrish, AL as that
was where she loved to be. Her main outings were to church on Sundays and Wednesdays. Melba did not care about material things but highly regarded the things of the Lord. If it did not line up with the Bible, then she thought it was not true. Although Melba was a strict mother and grandmother, she loved her family and friends. She always told you her thoughts, especially if you did not agree with her. In her later years into her nineties, she would get out and cut her own grass, which she loved to do. She was a strong, opiniated Southern woman who would let you know exactly where she stood with the Lord and with you. Okay, God, is Heaven truly ready for our dear mother and grandmother for eternity? Batten down the hatches!

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years James Clayton Crump, her parents Tom and
Jalie Bolton, brothers Paul Bolton, Wintford Bolton, Raymond Bolton, and sister Birdie Jones.

Melba is survived by her children Doyle Crump of Parrish AL, Deb Woodbery of Pinson AL, and Jason Crump of Jasper AL. She had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.

Many thanks and appreciation go out to Aretta Connell and the Affinity Hospice staff. Special thanks to Doyle Crump, Jo Ann Geneva Royster and Nicky Pendley for around the clock care.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations to a favorite charity in her honor.
