Maxie Faye (McNutt) Salyers lived a full and blessed life. She was born in Haleyville, Alabama, on November 15, 1938 and departed this earth on April 5, 2014. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985, and defeated it. She was one of MD Anderson Medical Center’s longest breast cancer survivors, 29 years. She was a spirited lady who reluctantly took “no” as answer in sales. She graduated college and received her degree from Florence State. She had an extensive career as a school teacher that included Haleyville City Schools, Lauderdale County Schools, along with schools in Mississippi. She was a motivated entrepreneur who co-owned a lovely specialty store, the Corner Boutique in Haleyville, Alabama. She co-owned an import jewelry business and an advertising business. However, she was most proud of her two children and her beloved granddaughter, Chloe, whom she devoted much of her final years. Maxie Faye is survived by her son, Randall Nix, her daughter, April Nix (Tim Bowden); her granddaughter, Chloe; her brother, Billy Mcnutt and his wife Shirley Mcnutt; her sister-in-law, Ella Wayne McNutt (Lawson Mcnutt); several adored nieces and cousins; several friends and other family. She is predeceased in death by her father, Willie Belton McNutt; mother Edis Oma McNutt; brother, Cecil Mcnutt; brother, Lawson McNutt; sister, Beatrice (McNutt) Morphew; and brother-in-law, Orville Morphew. A celebration of her life will take place at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Hendersonville, Tennessee, on April 10, 2014, at 6 p.m. and a visitation at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, Alabama, on April 12, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with a service to commence at 3:00 p.m. Maxie Faye will be laid to rest following service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haleyville, Alabama.
