Mary Gail Guido – Obituary

Mary Gail Guido, formerly of Cherokee and Huntsville Alabama, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2013. She had fought with complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Gail was born in Sheffield, Alabama on June 30, 1946 and spent her childhood in Cherokee, Alabama. She was the daughter of Dalton Boone and Mary Ann Davis, who predeceased her.

Gail attended high school in Cherokee and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She worked as a civilian Archivist for the United States Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama and later at Air Force Headquarters in Washington DC. She lived for many years in New York, for five years in Toronto, Canada, eight years in Huntsville, Alabama and most recently in Conneautville, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Guido, and her three children, Dare Gillette, Alexander Guido, and John Guido. She is also survived by her two sisters, Carole Phillips and Myra Ann Willingham. Gail had seven grandchildren – Benjamin, David, Rachel, Amanda, Katie, Leah and Julie Anne Gillette.

She was a special person who travelled widely. Condolences for Gail’s passing have come in not only from Alabama, New York, Georgia, and Pennsylvania but also from Canada, Scotland and Indonesia. Now she has been welcomed into an even better kingdom – the kingdom of God – whose commands and love she so honored and exhibited to her all too short life.

Gail’s funeral will be held on March 8, 2013 at Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 4850 Allsboro Road, in Cherokee, Alabama. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 PM with the service at 2:30 PM and the burial to follow at the church.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Morrison’s Funeral Home, 10865 Highway 72 West, Cherokee, Alabama (256 359 4033) to which flowers may be sent.
