Mr. Marvin Daniel Barley, Sr. Marvin Daniel Barley, Sr., was born March 1, 1938, in Madison County to the late Daniel and Earlie Orell Draper Barley. He departed this life on November 16, 2023.

Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter Michelle, grandson Germaine, brother Aaron, and sisters Cora & Doris.

Marvin graduated from Council Training in 1955, and then he joined the U.S. Army. He built a career that took him to many places, but he settled in El Paso, Texas. While in El Paso, he made it his home, started his family, and retired after 20 years. After retiring from the Army, Marvin went into construction and continued his work until retiring at the age of 65. Marvin moved back to Huntsville to help care for his father and remained.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working on his farm. Marvin started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he made many life changes. He dedicated his life to God and began his life of preaching god’s word. Out of all of his accomplishments in life, the love that meant the most to him was his service to his God Jehovah. He loved speaking to others about the wonderful blessings that God promised. He loved meeting and talking to any and all who had a listening ear. Marvin loved his family and the many friends he made along his journey in life. Although his health started to decline, he still continued his ministry by letter writing and found great joy in it. Now, Marvin will wait silently until the resurrection when Jesus will call his name.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Queen Fitcheard Barley; three loving sons: Marvin Jr. (Joy) of Conroe, TX, Kenny (Kim) of Fontana, CA, and Bear Barley of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Marion Hall (Richard) & Rhoda Kellum (David) of Huntsville, AL and Quo-Vadis Felton of Detroit, MI, a brother, Phil Leamon (Judy) of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Donald Fitcheard (Michelle); and a host of nieces,   nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness (70 New Center Road Hartselle, AL 35640) with Brother John Ray officiating. Interment will be in the Draper-Chatman Cemetery in Valhermoso Springs, AL. Mr. Barley will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
