Dr. Mack Delano Underwood passed away on January 9th, 2025.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Underwood, parents, Edgar Cicero Underwood and Louise Sally Pittman Underwood, sister, Loeta Inez Dockery, and brother, Jack Lamar Underwood.
He is survived by his son, Steve Underwood; daughters, Debra Cofer and Lisa Pomar; sons-in-law, Rick Cofer and Duane Pomar; daughter-in-law, Kathy Underwood; granddaughters, Laura Cofer and Anna Underwood; and sister, Sarah Jane Frerichs.
Mack was raised in Tellico Plains, TN, and graduated from UT Memphis Dental School in 1955. After graduation he served in the United States Public Health Service, providing dental care to Coast Guard members on the east coast working out of a mobile dental unit for two years. He then moved to Huntsville, AL where he practiced dentistry for 40 years. He enjoyed the outdoors whether hunting and fishing or raising cattle on his farm.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will immediately follow in the chapel with Brock Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
