Lera Dae Chenney Doss age 97 of Maben MS passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center Long Term Care in Eupora, MS. Lera Dae was born May 16,1927 to the late Ervin Floyd Chenney and Eulera Smith Chenney. She married the late James Harvey Doss on April 14, 1945. They had 68 years together until he passed away on January 29, 2014. She was also predeceased by her parents, a sister, Virginia Thompson and her husband Doug of West Point, MS, a brother Floyd Chenney and his wife Ann of Starkville, MS one brother-in-law, Talton Doss and wife Ruby of Maben, MS, and one-sister-in law Opal Long and her husband Bert of Louisville, MS. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Phillip (Yvonne) Doss, Maben, MS; one daughter Jan Wells of Maben, MS. Grandchildren Tracy (Scott) Hudson of Franklin, TN; Clayton (Wendi) Doss of Florence, MS; Kemberly Wells of Starkville, MS; Melanie (K.C.) Hollingsworth, Anniston, AL. Great grandchildren, Baylor and Ali Hudson; Grayson, Carlyle and Lawson Doss; Austin and Avery Hollingsworth. A special cousin, Frances “Little Sister” Johnson, Ridgeland, MS and several nieces and nephews and other close relatives.

Visitation will be at Midway Church of Christ in Maben, MS on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 with visitation from 10am – 11am followed by funeral service at 11am with interment at Maben Memorial Garden, Maben, MS.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Doss, Grayson Doss, Lawson Doss, Scott Hudson, Baylor Hudson and Shane Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Cantrell, Tommy Ballard, Austin Carpenter, William Ford, Shannon Williams, Steve Gladney and all of the Oktibbeha County Law Officers.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sue Simmons for all of her special care and to the staff of the North Mississippi Medical Center Long Term Care in Eupora, MS and Legacy Hospice for the excellent care that Lera Dae received.
