Laura Murphy Lucas, 66 of Rogersville, Alabama left her earthly home on March 20, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Laura was born in Toledo, Ohio, but soon found her Alabama roots when her parents, Elmer Joe and Marilyn Ellawese moved to Tanner. Laura lived her life full of kindness, love and understanding. She was devoted to her family, husband, grandkids and any other kids she had adopted over the years. Her warmth touched every soul she met, and she always had an ear to listen. Her imagination was incredible, and her laugh unforgettable. Laura is preceded in death by her grandparents, Laura Louise Humphrey, Andrew Franklin Murphy, Herlin (Marie) Smith, and Mother, Marilyn Murphy. She is survived by her husband, Mark Lucas, father, Elmer Joe Murphy and brother, Bradley Wayne Murphy and best friends Tracey and Mickey Thornton. Laura leaves behind a legacy of five children, Trent (Crystal) Thornton, Hollie Thornton, Amanda Thornton, Victoria Frost and Joy (Steve) Frazier. as well as 12 grandchildren, Tristan (Dakota) Darby, Megan (James) Parker, Kelsey (Kaley) Smith, Trinity Thornton, Jes’ce Shoulders, Makayla Morgan, Trevor Thornton, Maddox Morgan, Hermione Frost, Hadley Thornton, Cohen Harden, Sophie Grace Thornton, Ashton (Allie) McLemore and 5 great grandchildren. Services will be 2:30 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Trent Thornton and Kevin Chancellor officiating, burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 pm until service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Trevor Thornton, Maddox Morgan, Jesce Shoulders, Heath Murphy, Travis Murphy and Zach Posey. Honorary pallbearer will be Cohen Harden.
