Larry Samuel Fulton – Obituary

Larry Samuel Fulton, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Huntsville, AL on October 14, 2017. Larry was born and raised in Blacksburg, SC, and was the middle child in a family of 10 siblings. As a child, Larry was a gifted student and athlete. After graduating from high school, Larry chose to attend the US Military Academy at West Point. Larry served 20 years in the US Army, supporting a number of Army Aviation and Army Missile Defense Programs. During his Army career, Larry served in key assignments in Vietnam, Alaska, West Point, Fort Belvoir, and eventually Huntsville, AL. During this time, Larry also earned a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. After retiring from the Army, Larry served as a senior leader at the MEVATEC Corporation. During his time with MEVATEC, Larry provided guidance and mentorship to help grow the company from a small idea into a successful business. He also enjoyed serving his community in a number of philanthropic roles. Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher for the Faith Sunday school class. Larry regularly attended both First United Methodist and Covenant Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed giving back to the community by donating his time and support to a number of charities, both local and national. Larry’s most proud accomplishment was serving as a dedicated husband, father, and especially grandfather to his seven grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Debra G. Wymer; sons, Wesley Samuel Fulton and wife Carrie, and Bradley G. Fulton; step-children, James Wymer and wife, Brandi, Elizabeth Wymer Jenkins and husband, Hunter, Jack Wymer, Matthew Danner and wife, Stephanie, and Susan Danner Trousdale and husband, Darryl; and seven grandchildren: John and Anna Wymer, James Jenkins, Jackson and Peyton Danner, and Trent and Garrett Trousdale.  Larry is also survived by seven siblings and their families.

A memorial service and celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Thursday Oct. 19th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hal Oakley and Rev. Coy Hallmark officiating.  A reception will follow the service.
