GUNTERSVILLE-Lake Guntersville State Park has three more guided walks and hikes  planned for the remaining days in April.

Bring water and explorer’s attitude.  Wear appropriate clothing and comfortable sturdy footwear. Leashed dogs are welcome on all hikes except the birding hikes.

On April 15th the Explorer Hike (10 AM, meet in lodge lobby).  Start your hike as a modern-day explorer studying plants and wildlife as you follow your guide.  As part of an expedition team you will be expected to find signs and clues as you travel. Turn your imagination into full gear as you travel back in time to explore the past and connect with the Native Americans or settlers that walked the same path generations earlier.  Duration:  2 hours.

On April 15th The Frog Walk (7 PM,meet at outdoor classroom in C-section of the campground).  Join Park Naturalist, Kate Gribbin to learn about the differences between reptiles and amphibians, and help her search for frogs and toads.  Flashlights and closed toed shoes are recommended.

Last in the month on April 21st the Sunset Walk (6 PM, meet in lodge lobby).  Walk to a beautiful vista near the lodge to watch the sunset and learn about the history of Lake Guntersville State Park.  Flashlights may be helpful for the return walk. Duration:  about 1 hour.

Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge is located at 1155 Lodge Drive in Guntersville.  For more information call Lodge:  256.571.5440 or the Nature Center:  256.571.5445 or you may email Kate.Gribbin@dcnr.alabama.gov.
