Kathleen “Kitty” J. Hobbs, 93, of Huntsville, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord on February 16, 2026. She was born on September 19, 1932, in Vredenburgh, Alabama, one of eight children born to Jamie and Minnie Jones. Growing up in a big South Alabama family shaped the joyful, strong, and loving woman she would become.

Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Hobbs; her sons, Rick Hobbs and Tom Hobbs; and her daughter, Kay Hobbs and her great grandsons Josiah Hallum and Teddy Hobbs. While she experienced heartbreaking loss, her faith in Jesus never wavered and carried her through every season of life.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hobbs Hallum; her daughters- and son-in-law, Janet Hobbs, Dana Hobbs, and David Hallum; 16 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by them.

A native of South Alabama, Kitty lived in several places around the state before moving to Huntsville in 1966, where she remained for the rest of her life. She was a longtime, faithful member of Whitesburg Baptist Church. She loved her church deeply and was known as a true prayer warrior-always lifting up her family, friends, and anyone in need.

Kitty had a joyful spirit and a gift for encouragement. She loved Handel’s Messiah, was a big Auburn fan, and rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Tigers. She enjoyed leading exercise classes and staying active, inspiring others with her energy and enthusiasm. She loved baking her famous chocolate cake, and if QVC was on, there was a good chance Kitty was watching.

More than anything, Kitty will be remembered for her love-love for Jesus, love for her family, and love for people. She leaves behind a legacy of faith.

Visitation will be Thursday 10 am to 11am at Whitesburg Baptist Church ROC. Services will follow at 11am.

Interment will be in Hampton Cove Cemetery.
