Julian Edward Winton Sr Julian Edward Winton, Sr., 78, of Winchester, TN passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 7, 2019 following a heart attack. Born June 10, 1941 in Decherd, TN, he was the son of the late Raymond and Dessie Dean Taylor.

Julian spent his younger years in Sewanee, TN and he attended Townsend High School. From there he moved to Cowan, TN and then to Chattanooga, TN.

Julian tried his hand at many jobs before settling into a role as a custodian at The University of the South where he worked from 1965 to 1973. In June 1973, he found his forever job as an equipment operator at the Wheland Foundry in Chattanooga, TN, where he worked until he retired in 2001.

Julian loved fishing, baseball and football and was an Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Titan fan. He also loved cooking (a love he got from his mother, Dessie Taylor, who was one of the best cooks around) and traveling to visit family in Alabama, Massachusetts, Florida and more locally in Murfreesboro and Nashville. He was a Mason.

Julian is preceded in death by parents Raymond and Dessie Dean Taylor, his sister Helena Taylor, and his grandparents Davis and Dessie Winton; and a loving companion, Clara Mae Simmons of Winchester, TN.

He is survived by his children, Julian Edward Winton, Jr. (Angela) of Winchester, TN; Christie Renèe Winton of Jamaica Plain, MA; and James Edward Pryor, Sr. of Winchester, TN; four grandsons, Marcus Winton and Jesmane Fountain of Pensacola, FL, James Edward Pryor, Jr. (Dennika) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Edward Pryor of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, La’Tresia Crockett of Murfreesboro, TN; five great grandsons, John Tavious, Jaydeen and Kingmonti Winton of Pensacola, and Michael Crockett and Maddox Pryor of Murfreesboro, TN; and one great granddaughter, Elin Clara Pryor of Murfreesboro, TN

He is also survived by his brother Gordon Niles Taylor (Jim) of Jamaica Plains, MA; sisters Shirley Linda Taylor of Sewanee, TN, and Victoria Taylor Dupree (Raymond) of Enterprise, AL.

He also leaves behind nephews, Gregory R. Taylor (Teresa) of Sewanee, TN, Raymond Lamonte Taylor of Sewanee, Braeden Johnson of Decherd, Raymond R. Dupree II (Nicole), Cayden and Cassius Dupree of Taunton, MA, D. J. Taylor Etuks and Bryson Taylor Etuks of Estill Springs, TN; nieces, Yolanda M. Taylor and Aspyn Gilmore of Round Rock, TX; Crystal Nicole Dupree, Aezia and Arianna Dupree of Enterprise, AL, Cecelia Dupree of Taunton, MA, Latoya Taylor, and Lola Taylor Etuks of Estill Springs, TN; and a host of cousin and friends

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN. The Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN with The Pastor John Patton officiating with remarks from Pastor John Bonner and Pastor John Harris. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens
