Josephine Black Dillard, 83, entered eternal rest from her residence in the Sherman area at 7:20 pm Monday, October 29, 2018 after a illness of a year. Mr. Dillard was born on May 13, 1935 in Lamar Co., Ala. to the late Oliver Black and Mary Guin Black. She grew up there and graduated from Sulligent High School. Josephine was a master homemaker, a great cook known for her pineapple cake, loved her flowers especially roses and vegetable gardening. She was a longtime caregiver for the elderly and a member of the Endville Baptist Church for over 25 years.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Endville Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Horton and Bro. J. W. Owens officiating. Private burial will follow in the McCarthy family plot at Sherman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM-8PM Wednesday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and from 1 PM-service time on Thursday at the Church.
Josephine leaves behind her husband of 49 years, James Dillard, to whom she married on Aug. 29, l969 in Beavertown, Ala. several nieces and nephews and her caregivers, Tennie McCarty, Sandra Cochran, Angie Stennett and Kenny Gassaway.2 brothers in law and 3 sisters in law.
Pallbearers will be Brian McCarty, Chance Collier, Clay Collier, Robby Beaman, Lee Franklin, Johnny Wilder and Jackie Lee Clark.
