Obituary of John William SasserApril 14, 1954-December 1, 2024

John William Sasser, 70, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Greg Tinker will officiate.

John was born and raised in West Tennessee. After graduating high school he attended and graduated from Freed Hardeman University. The next few years while teaching and coaching full time, he completed his Masters and Ed. S degrees. He spent his entire adult life living and working in Jasper, AL. During his 42 years of teaching and coaching, he positively influenced thousands of students. John started his teaching and coaching career at T.W. Martin High School, where he taught and coached. The following year he started working for Jasper City Schools teaching science and anatomy. He coached football and baseball at Walker High School. He also started Maddox football and baseball programs, as well as a middle school strength and conditioning program that was instrumental in producing many winning seasons for Walker High School. He was a dedicated husband, father, and PaPa. He was a lifelong dedicated Christian and a member of the local Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Sasser and Irene Love Sasser; brother, Dennis Sasser, and father in law Robert Lee Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Sasser; children, Jonlee Sasser (Kendall) and Taylor Sasser (Carley); granddaughter, Saylor Sasser; siblings, Patricia McKinney and Frances Snider; and mother in law, Sally Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Winston Woods and Walker Woods.

Pallbearers will be Jonlee Sasser, Taylor Sasser, Nolan Williams, Chad Williams, Walker Williams, and Greg Guthri
