John Russell Wright, age 66 of Belvidere, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Highpoint Health Medical Center. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on August 29, 1959, to the late John Nelson and Mildred (Powers) Wright. Until the time of his retirement, John worked as a self-employed contractor and was a talented woodworker. A true historian, he enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment and participating in Civil War reenactments. He was a member of General AP Stewart Camp 1411 and served on the Confederate Cemetery Board. John also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his puppies. Adored by everyone, John had a wonderful sense of humor, a caring and loving nature, and he gave the best hugs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunts, Louise Duncan, Joan Priest, Jeanette Steele, and Joyce Young. John is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Wright; children, Laura Wright (Brett) Ferrell, Tyler Wright (Sarah Wilkerson), and Daniel (Tiffany) Wright; grandchildren, Jackson Ferrell, Elizabeth Ferrell, Caleb Ferrell, Alec Wright, Samuel Borchardt, Maxwell Borchardt, Gatlin Gunn, Isbella Gunn, Brody Rankin, and Ella Rankin; step-children, Brittney (Josh) Rankin, Travis (Jess) Gunn, Joshua Cache (Veronica) Borchardt; second wife, Brenda Gunn; aunt, Linda Powers Rose; special friends, Myron Denton, Keith (Sissy) McClendon, Leonard Brown, John Morris, Randy Brown, Jack (Wendy) Watts, and all of his other Confederate Brothers. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Confederate Cemetery SCV 1411, 1218 Mayflower Road, Sale Creek, TN 37373.
