Howard William Morris, age 93 of Sherwood, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Sherwood on December 10, 1932, to the late Benjamin and Mattie Lou (Champion) Morris. A proud veteran, Howard served his country in the United States Army. He then worked at Avondale Carpet Mill in Stevenson, Alabama until the time of his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and gardening, as well as going on his daily walk. He also enjoyed reading, any and all genres, and watching old western and war movies. A wonderful man, an encourager, one who would praise you for the good and help you work through mistakes, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Morris; and siblings, Albert Morris, Calvin Morris, Frank Morris Jr, and Gracie Brandon; and children, Margaret Morris and Franklin Morris. Howard is survived by his siblings, Ben Frazier and Wanda Wann; children, William (Tina) Morris and Melvin Morris; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
